I found this striking image the other day while browsing the Uruguayan map.
Made me think that countries and borders are still a very important factor in the way we treat our planet. Sad fact, but true.

very true! now, what you see on the Uruguayan side is most probably a deforested area for planting eucalyptus, while on the Brazilian side, a deforested are for cattle farming, all part of the same production economy which almost all the fertile land of the world belongs. it only depends on the incentives and demand of each side.
